Sudan Condemns Germany Conference as “Colonial Tutelage Approach”
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sudan’s Foreign Ministry said the decision to hold the meeting in Berlin without consulting Khartoum or extending an invitation to its authorities reflects what it called a “colonial tutelage approach” and shows disregard for Sudan’s official positions and institutions.
The conference, which opens in Berlin on Wednesday, brings together Sudanese political and civilian groups. It is focused on fundraising for civilians affected by the ongoing war and exploring pathways to end the conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Khartoum argued that organizing such a gathering without coordination amounts to an attempt by Western states to shape Sudan’s internal affairs. It said this approach represents efforts to impose external visions on sovereign nations.
The Foreign Ministry further stated that Sudan rejects any international or regional meetings that discuss its future without the participation of its government, calling such practices “worthless” and a “dangerous precedent” in international relations.
It also warned against what it described as equating the Sudanese government and its national army with a “criminal, multinational terrorist militia,” arguing that such comparisons could weaken regional and global security frameworks.
